The National Park Service’s Pueblo Fire Management Zone in northern New Mexico is based at Bandelier National Monument and serves Valles Caldera National Preserve, Fort Union NM, and Pecos NHP. The four parks total over 130,000 acres of rugged and beautiful canyon and mesa country that protects world-class historic and archeological resources. The Pueblo Zone is a shining example of a National Park Service wildland fire program, with suppression resources, an interagency helicopter program, active fuels reduction efforts, fire science and ecology, and strong relationships with agency and community partners.
