The selected intern will participate in rearing endangered Atlantic salmon from several listed populations at a cold-water conservation hatchery. Activities include releasing juvenile and adult Atlantic salmon, collecting biological samples for disease screening, feeding adult and juvenile broodstock, cleaning rearing units, conducting monthly growth monitoring of juvenile and adult salmon, maintaining automated feeders, assist in moving, sorting and grading juvenile salmon, PIT tagging future broodstock, spawning, egg enumeration and care, electrofishing, and stocking multiple life stages of Atlantic salmon. Green Lake NFH is open to the public year-round and interns will have the opportunity to interact with visitors by giving tours of the facility or providing other outreach services.
