After training ends you have a one-week grace period before being on call in your home port. For the West Coast program, it does require you to live in a specific home port, so full relocation. While living in that home port you are on call, so you need to stay close to home most of the time. Trips are normally 3-5 days on small fishing boats, 21 feet to 65 feet. There are no showers on these boats, no laundry, it’s like camping. A personal vehicle and valid driver's license are required, also full vaccination including the boosters.
