The Sociable Weaver project is looking for a motivated field assistants to join the project from the end of May until end of June (or possibly longer). This project is a long-term research programme that investigates the evolutionary bases of cooperative behaviour using the sociable weaver as a study organism. The work takes place at Benfontein Nature Reserve, near Kimberley, and will consist of daily nest checks to monitor reproduction (measuring and ringing chicks, taking blood samples), managing video cameras to film nest attendance behaviour and operating automatic RFID-stations that collect data on social associations.
