needed for the monitoring of Florida Grasshopper Sparrows and other grassland birds at the Avon Park Air Force Range in south-central Florida.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct point counts and habitat assessments for grassland birds
  • Find and monitor nests using behavior
  • Set-up predator deflection fences, and take other nest protection actions
  • Assistants may be asked to help with Florida Scrub-Jay and Red-Cockaded Woodpecker monitoring occasionally

Compensation:

  • $15.00 per hour (40 hours/week)
  • Free off-site shared housing (no pets, no smoking, current COVID-19 vaccination required)
  • Paid sick leave, vacation, and Federal holidays
