The purpose of this internship is to execute geospatial data management updates, field validation, and assignment of wetland attribution and functional classifications to standardize, merge, and update the wetland inventory for areas in Alaska (primarily the Anchorage commuting area) in a manner that is acceptable and compatible with the National Wetland Inventory (NWI), the federal standard for wetland mapping. Project Goals:
  • Conduct approximately 30 days of field work for validation for NWI coding
  • Update signature database/documentation with field photos and screen shots for each code
  • Complete NWI geometry and attribution
  • Complete data management requirements
