🎓 About the role
The goal of the Program Coordinator is to lead our community development and educational programs while guiding and training the participants. At GVI Madagascar we are involved in teaching English to all ages in formal and informal settings.
The role entails assisting with daily operations of base and volunteer management, alongside project planning and development. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for overseeing the volunteers, scheduling & logistics for project work, teaching classes as needed, maintaining social media, keeping records of project work, delivering training and orientations for new volunteers, and acting as a role model for the whole team. The role will enable the candidate to develop both professionally and personally in a supportive and inspirational environment.
This is a mid-level position, designed to allow the right candidate to develop leadership, management and community development skills, accelerating their career in sustainable development while offering an amazing opportunity to create a real impact in the field.
☀️Role and responsibilities:
- Assist in the running and development of education projects: long-term objective setting, weekly schedules, planning project delivery and logistics
- Assist in the management of international participants
- Manage professional, high-quality training sessions for all participants
- Assist in teaching/covering classes and all community activities when participant numbers are low
- Assist the Program Manager in continuously seeking to improve the quality of the program for participants, which might include things like extra activities, training opportunities, services or expedition products
- Assist Program Manager with tasks including health and safety, recruitment, training of new staff, writing of reports and updating of social media
- Ensure ongoing monitoring and evaluation of projects including data collection and report writing
- Lead participants to plan and lead lessons and workshops that are effective, participatory and enjoyable
- Assist with administrative work if needed, including reporting and scheduling
- Assisting with the daily running of the hub, as well as welcoming new participants
- Adopt a flexible work approach that will include working evenings and weekends where necessary, as well as assisting in base chores
- Maintain good relationships within the community and serve as a representative of GVI at all times

You have a real desire to create a long-lasting impact, not only in the field, but with our local community and with our international participants. 50% of our programme’s impact is in the field, but 50% is the impact we have on our participants – this is very important to us!
You are happy to step outside of your comfort zone and to move away from the traditional 9-5; this role is a lifestyle and not just a normal job! You must be resilient and adaptable, staying calm in sometimes challenging situations.
You must want to have fun in everything you do, our work is important and demanding, but we never forget to smile and have fun while we are working together to make the world a better place.
You are willing to learn, always ready to absorb new information and skills, consolidate this knowledge and in turn pass these skills on to new participants.

✅Professional skills and experience:
- TEFL Qualification or equivalent
- Teaching and community development experience
- Experience managing groups/participants/students (we will provide all project-specific training in-country)
- Fluent in English reading & writing
- Advantageous:
- Trained in First Aid
