Interns will learn how to use a variety of books and keys to identify native and non-native plants. They will learn about appropriate techniques for treating 20+ species of invasive plants and earn State of Michigan Pesticide Applicator Certification in the Right-of-Way and Aquatic Pests categories. Interns will learn to use a variety of maps, GPS units, and ArcMap. Interns will also work with program areas other than Botany, such as Wildlife and Recreation, and learn about pollinator habitat improvement, botany surveys, piping plover surveys, etc., as opportunities allow.
