The Greater Farallones Association (GFA) is a nonprofit organization working to conserve Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary habitats and wildlife, while building and engaging a diverse community of informed ocean stewards. We aim to teach the next generation of diverse marine scientists through first-hand experience studying the coastal zone of the Sanctuary with a sense of safety, belonging, and inspiration. GFA’s community-based programs are accomplished through close coordination with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, and in partnership with the federal staff of the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary (GFNMS or the Sanctuary).
