The mission of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) is working with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. This position will help FWS realize that mission at the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. The Member on this project will provide support FWS Staff with managing invasive plants on the Refuge by mapping the location of infested areas, assisting with herbicide application, mapping treatment, and monitoring Refuge grazer's electric fences for proper installation. By documenting the current level of infestation, Refuge staff can improve planning on a targeted, multi-year treatment strategy for species such as Phragmites australis and Tamarisk.
