Job Title: Landscape Recovery Lead
Location: Hybrid – Home working, with some office work at Knepp Estate and field work along the River Adur (Sussex)
Time: 3 days/week (with potential to expand into a full-time role)
Salary : £32,500 pro rata
Date: March 23 – Feb 25
Contract: Initial 21 months fixed term contract to align with ELMS project. Potential for extension or longer-term contract, subject to funding and performance.

Knepp Wildland Foundation is managing an ambitious and exciting two-year river restoration development project along the River Adur in Sussex. This is part of the first Landscape Recovery pilots under the Environment Land Management Schemes (ELMS). Our project will bring together a consortium of 27 farmers and land managers along with four delivery partners, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Adur Council, Brighton University and the Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust, and is facilitated by the Environment Agency.

Our aim is to establish a blueprint for restoring the ecological health of the river funded through a blended financing framework for ecosystem services.

We are looking for an experienced project manager who can work well with land managers and who has an interest in river restoration to lead our two-year project.

Community engagement will be at the centre of this project and the role will require regular calls and visits to establish land plans that balance the needs of the project with the vision and capacity of each land manager.

The role will also include the management of researchers and suppliers – including conservation partners, consultants, and natural capital baseline specialists. The Lead will oversee reporting to the Environmental Agency Landscape Recovery team and hold responsibility for the successful submission of quarterly grant claims, based on agreed milestones. We are keen to find someone with strong communication skills and an interest in working with our wider team on digital storytelling and mapping to share our work with national audiences.
