About the Role:
LUC’s ecology team is passionate about creating opportunities for wildlife and people to thrive together.
With established teams in London, Bristol, Manchester and Glasgow, we support a huge range of projects, at local and national levels. We’re enthusiastic about finding new ways to apply emerging ecological principals and methods to the most challenging of policy and development projects, and we have fun working together along the way.
We’re seeking to appoint a Consultant Ecologist to support our busy central London team. Reporting to a Senior Ecologist in London, the role will include:
Supporting business development activities.
Contributing to bids and tenders.
Delivering project-specific tasks, in compliance with LUC’s project management system. Tasks will include extensive fieldwork, desk studies and report-writing.
The role will involve extensive travel around the South East and include regular overnight stays.
Salary £24,000 (inclusive of London Allowance).

About you:
You will have existing experience in ecological consultancy, particularly in relation to field surveys. You will have conducted Phase 1 Habitat Surveys and protected species surveys, including those for bats and great crested newts. You may survey licences for some species.
You will have experience in preparing desk studies and written project reports.
You will have a relevant degree and professional qualification equivalent to Qualifying Member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
You will have effective communication skills and have experience in liaising with inter-disciplinary colleagues
