Mabula Ground Hornbill Project (MGHP), based at Mabula Private Game Reserve, Bela Bela, South Africa, is the lead agency for Southern Ground-Hornbill conservation in South Africa. Mabula Ground Hornbill Project is the BirdLife Species Guardian for the Southern Ground-Hornbill Bucorvus leadbeateri. Its vision is that, by 2050, Southern Ground-Hornbills in South Africa are down-listed to Vulnerable, with sustainably growing populations throughout their historical range and that enhanced knowledge leads to societal behaviour changes that address all anthropogenic threats, and that evidence-based conservation interventions with strong collaborations are successful.
