The role involves managing complex processes by engaging with tangata whenua: iwi, hapū and whānau, developing strategic policy direction and working with relevant conservation boards, the New Zealand Conservation Authority and the Minister of Conservation. The Statutory Planning team prepares statutory planning documents that provide direction for how public conservation lands and waters will be managed. These documents include conservation management strategies, national park plans and conservation management plans.
  • We are a national team of statutory planners and marine advisors distributed from Murihiku through to Tāmaki Makaurau with people working from DOC offices or flexibly in other locations. We have a great mix of skills, interests, backgrounds, and approaches.
