Our team of scientists are passionate about their work to measure, analyze, assess, interpret, and communicate conditions of Washington’s marine environments over time. In this role, you will assist with scientific fieldwork, using standard oceanographic techniques in support of monitoring, to ascertain continuous status and trends for marine water quality in Puget Sound and the coastal estuaries.  

What you will do: 

  • Conduct monitoring surveys by boat. This includes preparation and use of oceanographic sampling gear, instrument calibration (Conductivity, Temperature, and depth [CTD] and other electronic sensors), and collection and processing of water samples.
