We are searching for qualified vets or pathologists to conduct field work for one year in remote wild ape sites or sanctuaries in several parts of Africa, such as in Loango Chimpanzee Project, Loango National Park, Gabon, or in bonobo field sites in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Research assistant tasks will include health monitoring data collection including regular non-invasive sampling collection of urine and feces; regular behavioral data collection and entry; occasional autopsies of apes which have died of natural causes. Candidates should expect living conditions to be remote and basic (no running water, only minimal solar power for electricity, limited internet availability).
