Overview

Raukūmara Pae Maunga is a large-scale restoration project that aims to significantly reduce possums, rats, stoats, deer and goat from a 90,000-hectare territory of Public Conservation Land spanning the northern to central Raukūmara ranges.  Additional to this area there is also the possibility of working with privately owned lands.  Raukūmara Pae Maunga is a restoration project between Ngati Porou, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui and in partnership with Te Papa Atawhai (Department of Conservation).

This is a great opportunity for someone knowledgeable and qualified in the art of communication and engagement to join our team. You will assist the Communication and Engagement Manager to curate and deliver an engagement strategy within the Pae Maunga project particularly connecting across Ngati Porou and Te Whānau-ā-Apanui.

Understanding how the Pae Maunga operations happen is critical to curating key narratives that support our whānau to understand what it will take to save Te Raukūmara.  We are also looking for someone who has a keen understanding of Ngati Porou and/or Te Whānau-ā-Apanui iwi systems, dynamics and processes.

Representing Raukūmara Pae Maunga, you will have exceptional relationship and communication skills and ability to work with the Pae Maunga team, the iwi, hapū, whānau of Ngati Porou and Te Whānau-ā-Apanui and various stakeholders.

Key attributes of the successful applicant:

  • A passion for crafting, delivering and promoting effective communication strategies supporting an understanding of what it will take to save Te Raukūmara
  • Excellence in content creation, public relations and brand management
  • Experience in arranging media releases and knowledge of media relationships
  • Experience with engagement and communications with iwi and hapū of Ngati Porou and Te Whānau-ā-Apanui
  • Advocate and understand the vision, strategies, and values of Raukūmara Pae Maunga
  • Competency in Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga
  • Exceptional digital design, written and verbal communication skills
  • Passionate, innovative, courageous and a drive for excellence in everything you do
  • An excellent understanding of media platforms including social media, television and radio
  • Relevant tertiary qualification relating to marketing and communications, or experience in communications and marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
