The Multimedia Intern work with the Houston Community Partnerships & Engagement (HCP&E) staff to develop digital media products for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (Service) Southwest Region, including the Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

DUTIES

  • Create videos and other digital media/outreach tools to highlight wildlife conservation successes and challenges in the Southwest Region.
  • Develop graphics and infographics.
  • Research and identify copyright free images/videos/audio.
  • Help build and maintain a multimedia library.
  • Create products that are accessible to a diversity of audiences.
  • Prepare content for social media postings.
  • Ensure full compliance of products, including Service policy, copyright and accessibility.
  • Gain hands-on experience working with Service staff during biological monitoring, habitat restoration, outdoor recreation/visitor services programs, including in and around Houston.
  • Build program-related skills and participate in job shadowing / training.
  • Maintain data in order to track successes.
  • Maintain program materials and tools, including vehicles, EE materials and more.
  • Other duties may be assigned during the term of this internship, as priorities and opportunities for partnerships to connect urban audiences with nature arise.

 

Location Description

This position will serve a four state area (AZ, NM, OK and TX) but will be based out of Houston, TX.

 

Training Provided

Outreach and interpretation; job-related training as needed;

Recreation and outdoor skills;

Various certifications related to program as arise.

 

Educational/Recreational Opportunities

Job shadowing

Attending and participating in special events, habitat restoration/biological programs on national wildlife refuges in Texas (and possibly elsewhere)
