“Shifting Sands – Securing a Future for the Brecks” is a component project of the national Back From the Brink Programme, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF). It is working to improve the fortunes of fourteen of the rarest and most threatened species in the Breckland region, under the auspices of the Rethink Nature Partnership of public and non-governmental organisations. Breckland or ‘the Brecks’ is a biogeographic region spanning the Norfolk-Suffolk border. Its array of designations, including 55 Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) attests to its national and international importance to biodiversity.
