Overview

Purpose
To work with the Senior Ranger to develop and deliver a programme of prioritised
maintenance on PROW and property in the National Park and to manage volunteers or
apprentices to assist with this delivery.
Develop the skills to plan work and lead others in the delivery of practical work tasks.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. In conjunction with the Senior Ranger, plan, implement and deliver a high quality
maintenance and enhancement programme on the public rights of way network,
access areas and National Park Authority properties and maintain records of
maintenance.
2. Take a lead in organising and planning tasks, to be implemented individually or
individually with the appropriate team.
3. Develop and maintain expertise in techniques and approaches in maintenance and
restoration of the rights of way network and properties.
4. Advise and supervise volunteers and apprentices involved in practical projects on
behalf of the Authority in the area ensuring compliance with health and safety policy
and practices.
5. Develop and maintain good working relationships with landowners and managers,
local communities and user groups in relation to public rights of way work.
6. Patrolling and inspecting at litter picking sites, assisting and providing the public and
presenting a positive helpful image at all times.
7. To undertake surveys and data entry.
8. Ensure that all work is carried out in the spirit of the Authority’s corporate values and in
accordance with the current Health and Safety and Equalities policies.
9. Any other duty consistent with the grade of the post which the Senior Ranger might
reasonably request.
