Kent County Council is offering the opportunity to be part of an exciting Heritage Lottery funded partnership project.  This ambitious initiative not only looks to restore, expand and link up fragmented chalk downland habitats across 10,000ha of North Kent, it also aims to reconnect the local community with this iconic landscape and you could play an important part in delivering this.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent interpersonal skills to deliver the habitat connectivity elements of the project. You will use your experience in providing habitat management advice to work with a wide variety of landowners so that the project continues taking positive steps for biodiversity in the Kent Downs. Using your knowledge of downland habitats, you will be responsible for identifying new areas for restoration or expansion ensuring that work supported or funded by us is carried out to a high standard, monitored and have assured legacy. With the help of volunteers and your knowledge of survey techniques, you will continue building and expanding our site condition assessment programme.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

Location: Allington Lock, Maidstone, Kent
Starting salary: £28,925 per annum
Part-time basis
 22.2 hours per week
Fixed Term until 31st May 2021 (with a possible extension to May 2022 subject to HLF approval)
