The Role

Over the last 30 years Middlemarch has developed a strong reputation and proven track record as a leader in the field of environmental consultancy. The company is currently going through an exciting period of growth and is looking for an Operations Manager to join our team and help us deliver our ambitious plans.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations, this exciting role will work with colleagues from across the business to ensure the efficient and effective allocation of resources across consultancy operations.

Leading a small team, you will be responsible for the scheduling and resourcing of projects as well assupporting consultant teams with project management and client liaison. Other tasks will include process optimisation, supporting the company’s quality management system and working closely with the Systems Manager to ensure the benefits of the project management system are maximised.

The operations team is the central hub of the consultancy, making sure work is completed and maintaining clear lines of communication between consultants and clients. This is a busy, demanding, but highly rewarding role that sits at the very heart of the business.

Skills and Experience

The Operations Manager must be organised and self-motivated with demonstrable experience of managing logistics, resource planning or scheduling of a busy team.

It is vital that the postholder is people-focussed and can communicate clearly, instil a positive team culture, and apply a calm and rational approach to work in what is a busy company with seasonal peaks.

A good understanding of systems and processes is needed, allowing the Operations Manager to identify and implement opportunities for improvement in how the business manages workflows and allocates resource.

Experience of project management systems and competency with Microsoft Office applications is essential.
