The Policy Advisor will have a portfolio of legislative issues to pursue in Congress and at state level from time to time. The role is an integral part of the AWI Government Affairs team, liaising with other AWI teams and personnel, and reporting to the Government Affairs team lead.

Responsibilities

  • Vigorously, strategically and professionally advocate on behalf of AWI’s animal welfare priorities before Congress and the Administration, as well as US states as needed
  • Represent AWI at meetings, hearings, and other events
  • Prepare fact sheets, testimony, actions alerts, and other materials for communicating with lawmakers and supporters
  • Draft, revise, and update website content on legislation that affects animals
  • Develop
