Background
Plankton provide important ecosystem services through their influence on the cycling of elements such as carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus; on water and habitat quality; and on production by higher trophic levels. However, environmental changes such as warming and alterations of dissolved nutrient concentrations place planktonic organisms under enormous pressure by changing the conditions in which they live. To study these processes and gain a deeper understanding of the influence of global change on the role phytoplankton play in coastal systems, we are searching an enthusiastic postdoctoral candidate, who will investigate the ecological and physiological responses of these organisms to environmental changes. We also wish to draw
