Overview: Applications are invited for the above fixed-term, full-time post working in the School of Natural Sciences of Bangor University. Duties will include developing on pipelines processing large amounts of lidar data using Microsoft’s Azure cloud high performance computing; help in the development of an R package and it’s deployment in Microsoft’s Azure; and generating a multiraster layer as a result of processing lidar data for the entire Amazon basin. Candidates should be educated to PhD standard (or equivalent) or be near completion in computer science, remote sensing, forest ecology or other relevant subject, and have previous experience with cloud computing, lidar data or forest ecosystems.
