Overview

Highland Ecology & Development wish to appoint an experienced Principal Ecologist and Senior Ecologist to join our team of professional ecologists in our northern office, based near Inverness. The post will lead the support for a range of projects, field surveys and reporting throughout the Highlands and Islands.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate a sound working knowledge of species and habitat as well as a good understanding of licensing and management in the Scottish context. Previous management experience as well as a site ECoW would be an advantage as would licenses held for EPS species.

The individual will be self-motivated and be able to plan and successfully deliver fieldwork on time and budget to exacting standards for a range of clients. Experience of writing technical reports in a concise and readable style is important.

Candidates will be graduates in an appropriate discipline and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a consultancy environment. You should be personable and be able to communicate well. Most importantly you should have a sense of humour and be able to build successful relationships with a range of clients. Membership of a professional body is advantageous.

A UK driving license is needed, as there will be travel throughout the north of Scotland and islands. There will be an element of working away from home with some antisocial hours.
