A vacancy exists for a Programme Manager based in Table Mountain National Park, working closely with both Park Operations and the Conservation Services Division (Cape Research Centre).

TABLE MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK
SALARY SCALE: R 672 515.74 – R 1 102 600.71

Key Performance Areas:

These include the following:

  • Providing overall management for a large 3-year project. This includes ensuring adherence to the project’s
  • time-bound objectives and deliverables.
  • Coordinating a project team, including park managers, researchers and students
  • Managing 2-4 project staff
  • Managing the project’s finance, human resources and legal needs through SANParks’ existing supporting
  • divisions
  • Managing a donor relationship with “Agence Française de Développement (AFD)“
  • Managing collaboration and capacity exchanges with “Parc National de le Réunion”
  • Coordinating workshops, meetings, visits and staff exchanges

Requirements and skills needed

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities that are required for the job:

  • A minimum of a Master’s degree or equivalent in a business administration or environment-related field.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in programme and/or project management, which must include at least one complete project cycle.
  • Of these, at least 5 years of experience is required in environment-related project management
  • Fluency in French is a distinct advantage
  • Excellent administration and financial management skills. Experience in the context of a government organisation would be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent coordination, team-working and networking skills
  • Excellent written, oral communication and networking skills
  • Computer literacy with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel overseas

The contract position will be based in the Tokai section of Table Mountain National Park, Cape Town. Travel to Reunion Island will be required.
