Biodiversity Assessment and Management Pty Ltd (BAAM) is one of Queensland’s leading specialist ecological consultancies. Based in Cleveland 30 km south east of Brisbane, BAAM has delivered over 1700 individual projects since 2003 for clients in all sectors including Local, State
and Commonwealth governments, mining, gas, infrastructure,industry, urban development and conservation.

We are looking to employ a full time Project Ecologist with with fauna spotting skills to complement our team. To be considered for this position you must have qualifications in ecology or a closely related field, fauna spotting experience, an ability to liaise between clients and thefauna spotting team, and sound report-writing skills.

The successful candidate will have an opportunity to work with experienced ecological consultants, including in a field- assistant role. As such, the ability to travel is required. They will have responsibility for organising and maintaining field equipment and will assist with data management and analysis. Previous experience with flora and fauna survey techniques will be well-regarded. Familiarity with the field techniques applied to accurately describe and map regional ecosystems and measure habitat condition would also be desirable.

There will be a requirement to undertake fauna spotting when required, mostly for short term projects within SEQ. BAAM works predominantly in Queensland, therefore applicants with field skills based in other regions will need to demonstrate an ability to quickly transfer their skills.
Although not essential as mentoring will be provided, an understanding of the workings of Queensland environmental legislation would be an advantage.
