We are seeking a capable, well-organised and hardworking candidate for the role of Project Officer – Forest Policy, based in Cambridge.

Project Officer – Forest Policy

  • Location: Cambridge, UK
  • Full time: 35 hours per week
  • Contract: Fixed term contract to 14 July 2022 with the possibility to extend
  • Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum plus competitive 12% pension benefit
  • Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata per annum in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 28 days

The Project Officer will work with BirdLife Partners to support the coordination of a five year (2017-2022) European Commission-funded initiative, aimed at building the capacity of civil society organisations in the Asia-Pacific region to participate effectively in forest monitoring, management, planning and policy processes. The focal countries of the project are Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Papua New Guinea.

The Project Officer will be responsible for monitoring and reviewing the project’s €5 million budget and expenditure to ensure it complies with the donor rules and to help ensure the successful implementation of the project. In addition, the officer will support the project manager in their duties including monitoring project activities and risks and coordinating project management groups and meetings. They will also help lead the project reporting and evaluation.

The ideal candidate will have substantial work experience in project administration, project reporting and budget management. They will be a highly organised team-player demonstrating attention to detail and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience of operating within an international environment, dealing with large grants and the conservation sector is desirable.
