This position sits in the Whakatane/Whirinaki/Opotiki District based in Whakatane. The iwi landscape in the Eastern bay of plenty is complex with 10 iwi (with overlapping rights and interests) and multiple hapu. Iwi are now becoming key players and drivers in conservation and DOC are reliant on having a person with excellent knowledge of the Treaty landscape to effectively undertake our obligations.
