Overview

A short-term Research Assistant post is available in the Conservation Science Research Group, to be supervised by Dr Thomas Worthington, alongside Professor William Sutherland in the Department of Zoology at the University of Cambridge; and Dr Dominic Andradi-Brown at WWF. The position will be available for six months to start on 1 January 2022.

The Research Assistant will contribute to an assessment of current and past mangrove restoration projects within the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA; https://www.mangrovealliance.org/) member organizations in order to build a baseline of information on global mangrove restoration efforts. This will involve individual calls with field offices from GMA members to walk through completion of a newly developed mangrove restoration tracking tool.

The Research Assistant will then support the development of a report highlighting key findings on restoration activities conducted by GMA members, and also support creation of user guidance material for the mangrove restoration tracking tool.

The successful candidate will be based in the Cambridge Conservation Initiative (CCI)’s David Attenborough Building in central Cambridge, which provides exceptional opportunities for applied interdisciplinary collaboration. The candidate will have the opportunity develop a large network of research collaborators based at universities and non-governmental organizations.
