The overall responsibilities of this Temporary/PT position are to develop and maintain cultures of red tropical seaweeds and work towards building a seaweed nursery to eventually replace material harvested from offshore seaweed farms. Research goals include helping to design and execute experiments aimed at increasing growth rates and survivorship of red tropical seaweed cultures. The position is available immediately for up to six months, and up to 20 hours/week.

Specific responsibilities related to these project goals:

  • Maintenance of seaweed cultures and development of new nursery techniques
  • Preparation of samples for analysis
  • Data management and analysis, including preparing figures for progress
