Overview

Blue Resources Trust is looking for a highly motivated and committed Researcher for its Coral Reef Research and Conservation Program. They will undertake fisheries data collection under the Coral Reef Research and Conservation Program to document fishing effort and catch composition and undertake stock assessments of reef fish. The position will be based at the Blue Resources Trust field station in Kalkudah, in the Batticaloa District. Recent graduates or early-career researchers with a passion for marine conservation are encouraged to apply.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An undergraduate science degree, preferably in marine science or fisheries

  • Experience in collecting, analysing and interpreting fisheries data.

  • Fluency in spoken English and Tamil.

  • Ability to prepare reports and presentations in English.

  • Familiarity with MS Office applications and statistical software.

  • Ability to work independently and within a culturally diverse team.

  • Knowledge and interest in marine conservation, fisheries research, and coral reefs.

  • Availability for a minimum of one year, full-time.

REMUNERATION:

Commensurate with qualification and experience in accordance with organizational policies, and will include a base salary and statutory benefits.

ELIGIBILITY:
