SCOTLAND: The Big Picture (SBP) is a charity that works to drive the recovery of nature across Scotland through rewilding, in response to the growing climate and biodiversity crises. Our vision is of a vast network of rewilded land and water, where wildlife flourishes and people thrive.

We are a small but agile and progressive team that works in a spirit of collaboration with
many different interest groups to:

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLE

SBP is a dynamic organisation with an exciting portfolio of nature recovery projects to deliver across Scotland.

At a time when businesses are increasingly conscious of their responsibility to address climate breakdown and ecological decline, there exists an opportunity to align rewilding with investment and engagement from the business sector. Seizing this opportunity to make more rewilding happen, lies at the core of this role.

KEY LIAISONS

The role will report directly to the Head of Fundraising and will also have regular liaison with the wider SBP team, as well as communication with partners, supporters and other external contacts.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Building strong relationships with a diverse range of businesses that align with SBP’s vision and values.
  • Promoting our ‘Make Rewilding Your Business’ brand to secure investment from businesses seeking to reduce their carbon footprint and become nature positive.
  • Developing pathways to engage staff and supporters of our business partners, enabling them to join our supporter journey.
  • Establishing Natural Capital products and agreements across our land partner network.
  • Exploring and developing new mechanisms to encourage businesses to support rewilding in Scotland.

EXPERIENCE

  • A proven and demonstratable record of relationship building and income generation.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including the business sector.
  • Sound knowledge of rewilding, the rapidly evolving conversation around land use and the principles of Natural Capital investment. 

KEY SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

We are looking for a candidate who can:

  • demonstrate passion for SBP’s vision and understanding of SBP’s values.
  • demonstrate knowledge of, and an interest in nature and Scottish environmental issues.
  • communicate confidently and appropriately with a range of stakeholders including businesses, partners and colleagues.
  • plan, manage and lead small to medium events.
  • work to financial targets, and confidently close investment agreements.
  • organise day-to-day activities according to priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • work well both independently, and as part of a team.
  • demonstrate competent IT proficiency.
  • use a CRM to manage workload and relationships.
  • work flexibly, at home and with a small, but dynamic team.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary: £32-£34k depending on experience. Salaries are paid on the last working day of each month by bank transfer and cover the period of the 1st of the month to the last day of the month.

Place of work: This role is home-based and will require a suitable home office working environment and equipment. Ideally, you will live within an hour of Edinburgh/Glasgow to enable regular meetings with clients. Attendance of meetings and events held in other parts of Scotland will also be required. Travel expenses will be paid in accordance with SBP’s expenses policy.

Contract: Permanent position.

Hours: Working hours are flexible but our full-time hours equate to a minimum of 37.5 working hours per week, Monday to Friday. The nature of the post may from time-to-time require evening and weekend work. Paid overtime is not available, but time off in lieu will be given.

Flexibility: Subject to ensuring that the needs of the charity and the role are met, SBP, where possible, endeavours to meet the flexible working needs of its staff.

Holidays: 28 working days per annum including public holidays, plus 5 additional office closure days between Christmas and New Year.

Pensions: You may be eligible to be enrolled into SBP’s staff pension scheme. Written terms of the scheme are available on request.

Probationary period: 6 months.

Notice Period: 3 months.

Training: SBP is fully committed to personal development and training and offers staff regular opportunity for both internal and external training.
