Overview

Job Purpose

Lead the implementation of developed plans, policies, procedures, and instructions required for sustainability, protection, and operation of AlUla’s Nature Reserves. Oversee the care, maintenance and recovery activities applied to the wildlife and natural heritage of the reserves.

 Key Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Responsibilities

1- Contribute to the development of the vision, objectives and strategies, and develop action plans for the management of all AlUla’s nature reserve, based on assessments of the features, monuments, environment, areas, and landscapes of each reserve.

2- Ensure the implementation of reserve plans, policies, procedures, and instructions to protect, sustain, and conserve the natural resources, wildlife habitats and the wildlife within the reserves.

3- Manage and monitor all preventive, interceptive, and emergency programs and initiatives that are required for maintaining and protecting the reserves’ wildlife, and natural heritage.

4- Provide recommendations for the design of the reserves’ infrastructure to ensure that the design and construction are compatible with the authenticity and integrity of the sites.

5- Ensure that the safety and health inspections are continuously executed on wildlife, and nature heritage and ensure permanent provision of proper environment conditions.

6- Ensure high standards of customer service, health, and safety for visitors of the AlUla nature reserves in line with established international best practices and in cooperation with the visitor services department.

7- Supervise and oversee the implementation of projects, events, and programs that are applied at the reserve sites and ensure the provision of support services required to implement these projects and events.

8- Provide continuous coordination and consultation to support the implementation of all guidelines and policies related to the management and protection of AlUla’s nature reserves.

9- Perform any other job-related duties as required by the direct manager.

Managerial Responsibilities

1-Provide input to the sector’s strategy from the Department’s or Section’s perspective in line with RCU overall vision and mission.

2- Develop the Department’s or Section’s objectives, KPIs, annual operational plans and ensure plan execution is meeting the targets.

3- Contribute to the preparation of the Department’s or Section’s annual budget and monitor the financial performance of the Department or Section.

4- Implement and execute the Department’s or Section’s policies and procedures. Oversee the overall performance of the section and ensure KPI’s are well developed, cascaded, communicated and monitored.

5- Ensure effective staffing, professional development and deployment of staff of the Department or Section in consultation with the Sector Executive or (Executive) Director.

 Job Requirements

Academic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant subject related to Biology, Environment, Natural Resource Management, Forestry or Wildlife Management, biodiversity conservation (Masters preferred)

Work Experience

• 6 years of relevant experience with 2 years in managerial role

Other Requirements

• Written and Oral proficiency of English language.

• Excellent communication skills.

• Outstanding organizational and time management skills

• Ability to work to short deadlines, if required
