This is a great opportunity for a selfmotivated individual to gain practical experience of wet grassland management. We are a small, resourceful and highly motivated team focused on creating and maintaining high quality wet grassland for breeding waders. The Nene Washes attract large numbers of wintering wildfowl including whooper and Bewick swans. We also have important populations of breeding cranes, spotted crake and garganey, and the largest population of black-tailed godwits in the country. The role of the assistant warden is predominantly outdoors, practical and seasonal. It involves the handling and general husbandry of approximately 700+ cattle, the use of tractors and heavy machinery for grassland topping and undertaking wetland and breeding bird surveys over 900ha of wet grass
