Gwenffrwd Dinas is a breathtakingly beautiful location set in the heart of mid-Wales. A traditional mosaic of hedgerow-bound fields blends through unspoilt, steep-sided Atlantic Oak Woodland to Ffridd and then way up to heather-clad moorland. Crashing white water blasts through a rocky landscape preserved from the ravages of mankind through isolation and inaccessibility. We are blessed with exceptional populations of key species such as pied flycatcher, redstart and wood warbler but also celebrate superb lichen and bryophyte interest. We are at an exciting point in the history of this reserve: RSPB Cymru is celebrating the launch of a €9.5 million Celtic Rainforest LIFE project which brings once in a lifetime funding to support the very best management of our Atlantic Oak Woodlands.
