Safari in Botswana – Trip Summary

This ten-day mobile tent safari lets you dive into the breathtaking wilderness of northern Botswana and gives you the chance to explore the wonders of the beautiful Khwai Concession, world-famous Moremi Game Reserve and impressive Chobe National Park. Game drives, bush walks and mokoro trips – always accompanied by your experienced guide – will lead you deep into the wilderness and bring you close to Botswana’s incredible wildlife. With a little bit of luck, you will be able to witness huge herds of elephants, smart wild cats, the call of the majestic African Fish Eagle and much more.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Maun and transfer to Moremi Game Reserve

You will fly to Maun Airport in Botswana where you should arrive no later than 11:30 AM on the day your safari begins. Here you will be greeted and assisted with your luggage before you are transferred to your charter plane for your immediate onward flight to Moremi Game Reserve. After a 30- to 45-minute flight you will reach the beautiful Xakanaxa region in Moremi Game Reserve, right in the Okavango Delta, where you will spend the following three nights. On the first game drive in the afternoon, you will surely experience some wonderful animal encounters.

Transfer: Arrival at Maun Airport and onward flight to the Xakanaxa region (Moremi) in the Okavango Delta – Flight time: approx. 30-45 minutes. Transfer from the airstrip to camp – Transfer time: approx. 30 minutes

Day 2 – 3

Exploration days in Moremi Game Reserve

Days 2 and 3 of your trip are dedicated to the Xakanaxa region in Moremi Game Reserve. Located in the eastern foothills of the Okavango Delta, Moremi’s scenic landscape is characterized by savannahs, forests, floodplains, lagoons, swamps and papyrus-lined water channels. Elephants, lions, buffalos, numerous species of antelope and bird as well as the rare African wild dog – an abundance of animals can be discovered in these captivating landscapes.

Day 4

Transfer from Moremi Game Reserve to Khwai

Today after breakfast, you and your guide will set off to the Khwai Concession, which is also located in the mighty Okavango Delta. You will drive slowly to have plenty of time for exciting wildlife observations. A picnic lunch can be enjoyed on the way.

The way to Khwai will lead you along beautiful riverbanks and floodplains, over mopane fields and up to the forests. Look forward to occasional encounters with elephants, big cats, giraffes, zebras, hippos, antelopes and other representatives of Khwai’s fascinating animal world. The Khwai Concession is one of the most scenic areas of the Okavango and you will now enjoy the following three nights amidst this amazing wilderness.

Day 5 – 6

Exploration days Khwai

Tracking down the wildlife of Khwai on day and night drives, foot safaris and mokoro tours will characterize day 5 and 6 of your safari trip. Together with your guide and with a little bit of luck, you will encounter elephants, buffaloes, lions, leopards, wildebeests, giraffes, birds and antelopes while roaming the forests, savannahs, swamplands, lagoons and waterways of beautiful Khwai.

Day 7

Transfer from Khwai to Chobe National Park

Today it is time to leave Khwai. On your way to spectacular Chobe National Park you will pass Paleo-Lake Makgadikgadi and a variety of other habitats that give you the chance to spot wild animals like lions, cheetahs, elephants and countless birds. After a 5-hour drive you will finally reach our partner’s mobile safari campsite where you will spend the following three nights amidst the wilderness of Chobe National Park.

Day 8 – 9

Exploration days Chobe National Park

Day 8 and 9 of your Botswana safari will be characterized by morning and afternoon drives to explore impressive Chobe National Park. You will get to know the unique Savuti marshlands, an area that is especially known for its large lion populations. But also elephants, cheetahs and, in the rainy season, even wild dogs can be observed here.

Day 10

Transfer from Chobe National Park to Kasane

On your last safari day, you leave Savuti early to reach Kasane at the Chobe River, forming the natural border to Namibia. Through mopane and teak forests, you will make your way to the Chobe Riverfront and its endless floodplains. Once you’ve reached Kasane, you will stop for a lunch picnic and then take a final afternoon boat trip on the river to end a surely unforgettable safari trip.

10 days – 5.500 EUR

COVID-19 policy

In case the country of destination established an entry ban, the first aim will be to postpone the trip to a later point in time at no extra costs. If this is not possible, the full programme fee is refunded.

In any other case, the standard cancellation charges apply:

  • up until 30 days prior to commencement of travel 20% of the total cost
  • up until 15 days prior to commencement of travel 30% of the total cost
  • up until 7 days prior to commencement of travel 50% of the total cost
  • up until 2 days prior to commencement of travel 70% of the total cost
  • up until previous day of commencement of travel or no-show on the day 95% of the total cost
