Publishing research is an important way for the wider community to gain access to useful information that can help shape conservation decisions and future research directions. It also improves career opportunities for young researchers and helps attract collaborators and funding. If you would like to become a more active player in this community then this course is for you.

WHY ATTEND?

This online course will help conservation scientists communicate the importance and impact of their work to the wider scientific community. You will:

  • Gain all the essential skills and know-how needed to publish a scientific paper
  • Learn how to structure your paper, how to write clearly and succinctly, and how to present your results
  • Discover how the publication process works from selecting a journal to dealing with reviewers’ comments

We have designed this course specifically for people who want to get their papers published and raise their professional profile.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

  • 25 July – 5 August: Publishing your work
  • 8 August – 19 August: Writing skills
  • 22 August – 2 September: Presenting results, data and visualisations

HOW WILL YOU LEARN?

This 6-week online course (4 hours per week) will be mainly self-paced independent study in our virtual learning environment to ensure maximum flexibility around your work and home life. There will be 90 minutes of live zoom per module.

The cost to attend is £360 (or £306 if you book before 26 June) and the course is limited to 30 students. Applications are on a first-come, first-served basis and the deadline is midnight (GMT) on 17 July 2022.
