The Marine Protected Area Project was founded by Marine Biologists from Research University of Dahlousie in Halifax, Canada and PADI Dive Instructors from the Bali Diving Academy who is located at the heart of the Marine Protected Area of Nusa Penida. The goal of the MPAP encompasses three interlinked aspects: the collection of crucial data by doing coral surveys and fish identification for Coral Triangle Center in Indonesia. Coral Triangle Center is the only organisation who defines and takes care of Marine Protected Area in the coral triangle countries and who is allowed and able to make the bridge between governments, associations and local communities.
