If this is you we have a great opportunity for a Senior Ecologist to establish an ecology team in our vibrant Chelmsford office to manage ecological projects and provide ecological survey and assessment capability including the implementation of ecological mitigation works, particularly in relation to legally protected species.

Working on a national basis MLM are one of the largest regionally based consultancy engineering practices. We are committed to continuous improvement and strive to provide personal attention, value for money and to produce good quality work and have been involved in nationally recognised, award winning projects.

You will be responsible for the preparation and submission of fee proposals and tender documents, undertaking preliminary ecological appraisals, surveys for legally protected species and report writing. You will be comfortable designing and implementing ecological mitigation plans and site works; discussing schemes and amendments with other professionals and preparing mitigation licence applications as well as negotiating directly with relevant statutory bodies to obtain necessary approvals.

We hope to grow the Ecology team in the Chelmsford office, therefore experience of managing a team will be an advantage. 

You will be required to travel to sites and to other MLM offices, therefore you are required to have use of a vehicle with business insurance.  Hours are generally 9:00am to 5:30pm but you may be required to work different hours as the job demands (for example, reptile/surveys/mitigation may require early morning or evening site visits).  All mileage and disbursements will be covered in accordance with our expenses policy.  We offer a competitive salary with an excellent benefit package and annual performance related bonus.
