Overview

ADAS, part of RSK Group, is seeking a Senior and/or Principal Ecologist to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis to be home-based in Wales or linked to one of our offices in either Cardiff or Aberystwyth.

We are looking for an experienced Ecologist with a wide and high level of technical skill, particularly with experience working on windfarm projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as a team with our existing ecologists to ensure quality projects are delivered on time to our clients
  • Talking to our clients and providing solid technical advice
  • Helping to manage the team and develop our junior ecologist’s knowledge and skills
  • Writing of technical reports including but not limited to, Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Mitigation Strategies and Biodiversity Management Plans, Habitat Regulations Assessments Screening reports and protected species reports
  • Technical review and approval of reports
  • Leading on protected species surveys and training junior staff

Person Specification

  • A full driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Graduate level education in a relevant subject
  • Experience working on large wind farm projects, from botanical and species surveys to producing scoping assessments and EIA chapters
  • One protected species licence (Great Crested Newt, Hazel Dormouse or Bats)
  • Associate Level CIEEM membership or above
  • An in-depth knowledge and experience of ecology, legislation, and survey techniques
  • Experience of managing projects and liaising effectively with clients

Salary and Benefits

  • £30,000 – £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience
