Introduction

Forever Wild represents a profound shift in how landscapes are managed both for conservation and people. Already generating international interest and partnerships, Forever Wild will create Shared Earth Reserves (SERs) that offers ways for societies to interact with our Earth in a truly sustainable manner. Our SERs protect not only tens of thousands of fauna and flora species, but also human cultures, histories and economies. Restorative & sustainable agriculture is integral to our SERs. We seek to redefine the relationship with the planet on which we live.

The role:

Forever Wild is seeking a committed and enthusiastic SER Programs Officer to be based at the Tropical Wetlands Shared Earth Reserve (TW SER) in Far North Queensland. The ideal candidate will be a practical person with a passion for Australia’s landscapes, rural culture, communities and wildlife. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to manage people and deliver applied land management outcomes, as well  as to work directly with animals as part of the Korrorook initiative. Korrorook is a Forever Wild project and an integral part of the TW SER. You will need to have experience with property management (including fire management, feral animals, weeds, buildings and fencing), community engagement / excellent people skills and an ability to work with animals. The role entails working with a wide range of stakeholders including FW scientists and veterinarians, indigenous and non-indigenous community members, the agricultural sector, students, volunteers, visitors and neighbouring landholders.

Given the unique nature of this role the scope for career development within Forever Wild, for the right person, is broad. We are seeking an ambitious individual who wants to make a real difference in rural & remote Australia, and who brings energy for the Forever Wild vision.

There is also scope to develop into a stronger role at the Korrorook Wildlife Rehabilitation & Conservation Centre being developed on the Tropical Wetlands SER.
