Job Description:
In cooperation with the Pacific Southwest Research Station of the USDA Forest Service, the Great Basin Institute AmeriCorps Program is recruiting three Crew Members to conduct surveys to assess small mammal abundance and species diversity in response to experimental forest treatments in the northern Sierra Nevada mountains. Pre-treatment small mammal surveys originally occurred in 2010 and 2011, and selected forest stands were subsequently treated (e.g., mechanically-thinned) to reduce fuel loads and improve forest resiliency to fire. Post-treatment small mammal surveys began in 2020 and will conclude in 2021.
