Would you like to feel inspired and confident enough to improve the future of nature? Would you like to be part of a pioneering rewilding project – an exciting land management approach for wildlife that is relevant across the world?

Spend winter rewilding this January at Lower Sharpham Farm, on the stunning Sharpham Estate in South Devon. This 8-week residential experience will allow you to gain practical, applicable skills in rewilding, woodland management, carpentry and woodwork, vegetable growing, as well as undertake nature conservation workshops to develop your knowledge and understanding of native flora and fauna.

You will live and work with a team of motivated, like-minded people and staff, all with a keen interest in nature and wildlife with personal experiences and skills to share.

Outcomes: 

  • Gain knowledge of the theory or rewilding, from its inception to different applications across the world.
  • Understand the nuance and complexity of rewilding and approaches and evaluate the Ambios approach at Sharpham
  • Gain confidence in species identification (winter plants and animals)
  • Improve competence in hands on habitat management (tree-planting, fencing)
  • Learn how to care for wild-stock – the animals rewilding the site (Mangalitsa pigs; Belted Galloway herd)
  • Learn traditional countryside management techniques, including hedge laying
  • Improve existing or develop new woodwork skills, including in traditional craft and conventional carpentry applications
  • Live healthily and learn about lifestyle choices including vegetable growing, food fermenting and wild food foraging
  • Gain confidence in public engagement and events
