Positive Change for Marine Life is seeking a Strategic Partnerships & Science Communications Manager to grow and manage genuine and strategic partnerships with corporates, private trusts and foundations, statutory and other bodies. The role will also include refining and further developing our program communications strategies, managing and developing our grants pipeline, as well as presenting PCFML’s work to potential and existing partners at conferences and events in Australia and internationally.

Solicitation and stewardship are key elements of this role, as well as the development of strategies and policies to maintain organisational integrity, while reaching our program and operational resourcing needs.

The successful candidate will be focused on building partnerships to resource a diverse range of programs within Australia, India and the Solomon Islands, focused predominantly on coastal restoration, habitat connectivity, carbon sequestration, pollution mitigation programs, and fisheries management.

THE PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
• Developing strategies to maintain and grow our partnerships program (including input into our MARCOMMS and development strategies, specific campaign plans and 3-Year organisational strategy);
• Nurturing and enhancing existing relationships and developing new ones, with a focus on successfully articulating PCFML’s aims, objectives and outcomes while finding common ground with partners’ needs and vision;
• Developing compelling content for reports, presentations, grant applications and submissions;
• Representing PCFML at conferences and events, as well as presenting to partners, both remotely and in person;
• Providing insight into budgets alongside the CEO and on-ground program coordinators;
• Working closely with the fundraising, campaigns and engagement teams, as well as the CEO to deliver an integrated development strategy.

IDEALLY, WE ARE SEEKING SOMEONE WITH:
• A desire to create long-term change for the ocean and the people who rely on it for survival;
• A thorough understanding of, and experience in, conservation science and science communication – including an ability to explain and adapt complex scientific information to a broad range of audiences;
• A proven track-record and passion for developing major partnerships across sectors;
• A proven ability to work as part of a team, while maintaining autonomy and stewardship of their programs;
• The ability to project and deliver on realistic targets, meet performance indicators, and continuously strive to exceed them;
• A flair for creating and delivering innovative, big picture partnership strategies to inspire support and investment in order to achieve our resourcing needs;
• Experience in managing grants, including grant development, team oversight, acquittals, and reporting;
• 5+ years’ experience in partnerships, NGO/business development or an associated field.

ADDITIONALLY, WE’LL FAVOUR CANDIDATES WHO:
• Have significant partnerships experience – understanding the methods and nuances of a high-value, multi-faceted partnerships program;
• Have experience working with a diverse range of organisations, both in person and in a virtual context;
• Have the capacity to travel regularly both within Australia and internationally.

ROLE AND REMUNERATION:

This position is a senior role within PCFML and will commence on a full-time, 12-month contract, with an option to extend for the right person. We are offering a competitive salary, with an opportunity for growth and bonuses. The PCFML team works internationally however, this position is based in Australia. Generous leave allowances, as well as travel and expense subsidies, are also included in this package.

A two-page max. EOI, focused on a mock partnership strategy outline that could be applied to achieve resourcing requirements for PCFML’s River Warriors Program in northern NSW. The outline should include:

  • An overview of how strategic partnerships could be implemented to restore and re-connect native riparian vegetation, while engaging diverse stakeholders to champion the long-term stewardship of the Brunswick River in northern NSW (based on the need outlined in our StoryMap and project description);
    • An explanation of how funds could be raised to support the program’s resource requirements and expansion across the river and to other catchments across northern NSW and SE QLD;
    • An inclusion of how we could use program impact metrics to drive further partnerships in order to meet our program goals and expansion.
