September and October work will involve weekly boat electrofishing for juvenile American Shad assessments in river (e.g., gear prep, netting of fish, fish processing in field - length etc., data recording) and processing of retained fish for species, length and weights and other sampling associated data (effort etc.).   Sampling occurs from sunset to later evening (back before 11pm), transitioning  over time with the earlier sunsets.   Fish will be processed the following day.  In addition river herring scales, from spring assessments, that have been mounted on glass slides will be read for spawning marks on projectors.  The intern will be trained in electrofishing safety for survey work and in the interpretation of spawning marks for river herring samples that will be tied to our a
