The biological program for the Northern Great Plains Complex has been working to create a Grassland Monitoring Framework that will give direction and focus on management of uplands.  This is a two part Framework. One is the gathering of knowledge on management techniques to alter composition and structure.  The second is following up with monitoring, to one, help assess grassland units for management recommendations, and two, to see if management is indeed working to meet our upland objectives.  For the field season 2020, a pilot program of the monitoring effort will be initiated.  The exact protocol of monitoring will be determined during the winter, and therefore the intensity of the surveys are not known at this time.  Completion of this program will be the priority of the intern.
