This position will assist the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with natural resources management projects on McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. Projects include: bird surveys, prairie restoration, invasive plant species management, and green infrastructure (native landscaping beds, prairie plots, riparian buffers, bioswales) maintenance. Specific duties include: identifying birds, data entry, seed collection, seed scattering, digging, planting native plants, pulling weeds, deploying and checking game cameras. Other short-term projects intern may assist with include: fisheries surveys and invasive plant management in Colorado and Wyoming (on partner Air Force bases).
