Are you passionate about nature, sharing knowledge and empowering others to take action?

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team working with schools and their communities across Surrey. Surrey Wildlife Trust’s vision is to create a county that is full of abundant and diverse wildlife; contributing to tackling climate change and supporting the health and wellbeing of all who live here.

Our Team Wilder project aims to reach a wide and diverse audience, empowering people to create a natural environment that is more connected and more joined-up across Surrey.  Our roles are varied: we work with schools delivering engaging sessions outside for students, on our reserves and in their school grounds; with teachers to develop their confidence and skills in outdoor learning; and we motivate and assist the school community to take action for nature in school grounds and community spaces.

We need knowledgeable and enthusiastic individuals who can work both independently and as part of a team.  These new posts will also include helping to establish a youth council and developing new ways to engage with young people across Surrey.  As such, the successful candidate will need to have a good understanding of online engagement and social media as well as being experienced in outdoor learning.

The successful candidate must have some teaching experience and a full, clean driving licence, as they will be expected to travel between our Community Nature Hubs at Nower Wood in Leatherhead, Bay Pond in Godstone and our project schools across the county.  As we also engage with families you must also be prepared to work occasional weekends and evenings.

We are committed to having an inclusive and diverse workplace and encourage applications from backgrounds which may be underrepresented in our sector, including people from minority ethnic backgrounds and people with disabilities.

We are committed to offering an interview to all candidates that meet the essential criteria for the post.  Please let us know if you require any adjustment to make our recruitment process more accessible.

If you fulfil the role criteria, please send a completed application form (available below) to Louise.Shorthose@surreywt.org.uk

The deadline for applications is midday Thursday 2nd December 2021.

Interviews will be held in person at Nower Wood, Leatherhead  (subject to COVID 19) on 14th & 16th December with a view to commencing in January 2022
